School of Mercy and Justice

INTRODUCTION

SMJ - THE SCHOOL OF MERCY AND JUSTICE

SMJ is designed specifically for those who work directly with the “the least of these” (e.g., the poor, sick, addicted, homeless) and those who work in intense justice ministries. (Those who sense a call to move in this direction may also join.) This 9-month journey will equip you in powerful ways to better discern your work, exercise greater self-care, and sustainably offer yourself to others from a place of true compassion and joy.

Overview

The School of Mercy and Justice is a 1-year certificate program that offers participants an immersive, integrated, and robust spiritual formation for those who desire to cultivate a deep life with God and engage in the work of mercy and justice in the world. Through the combined experience of learning together through teaching and discussion, reading superb literature, film, engaging in individual and group activities and reflection, receiving spiritual direction, and practicing spiritual disciplines — all in a communal setting — students will grow in embodying the contemplative, missional life.

Cost

Tuition is USD $1,200 (excluding travel, books, meals and payments to your own spiritual director). You can secure your spot with $200 deposit (refundable up until 1 month prior to beginning). The balance can be paid either up front or monthly over the following 8-9 months, due at the beginning of each month. You’ll be invoiced directly by Sustainable Faith.
